Harness buckles

second half of the 12th century

Multiple lobe harness pendants in cuprous alloy, punctuated by eight small triangular excrescences arranged regularly around the edge. A single closed ring forms the hanging element. The inside represents an openwork cross the extremities of which culminate in a small circle. The upper face of the piece, which is gilded, is completely covered with a succession of ocelli arranged randomly.
