Evrecy (Calvados) the monastery Springing stone 8th or 9th century

The decorated field of this element in limestone is bordered by a band surrounding a foliage composition. This piece, whose sculpted face is reddened by fire, was probably a filling piece between the springing stones of an archivolt.
