The church of Saint-Martin-de-la-Lieue is, overall from the first half of the 11th century. It presents all the features of a modest building of this period with a single nave and flat chevet choir, as at Saint-Jean-de-Livet and Ouilly-le-Vicomte. Some modifications were made later; the elevation of a tower above the choir and the construction of a sacristy on the south wall. The walls retain traces of fish bone pattern bonding and small rubble stones aligned with great regularity as in the constructions of antiquity. The upper part of the wall of the chevet presents small openings as could be found in constructions of the early middle ages. Bibliography
