Bény-sur-Mer (Canton of Douvres-la-Délivrande, Calvados) Church of Notre-Dame

   The church of Notre-Dame in Bény-sur-Mer is an edifice which has been largely reconstructed in the 19^th century, in the neo-Romanesque style. It has only retained its Romanesque tower which merges with the south wall of the choir. The tower which dates from the beginning of the 12^th century, has a square plan, and presents four levels. It is typically Norman in design with a multiplication of openings and mouldings the higher up one goes. The spire on the other hand is a reconstruction dating from 1725. Under the tower the sculpture on a capital representing a lion is worthy of note.
