La Roche-Mabile (canton of Alençon, Orne) Church of St Pierre

    The foundation of the church is due to the Géré family, a powerful family which dominated the southern Marches of Normandy towards the end of the 11th century.
The building is almost entirely Romanesque. The walls are built in small regular rubble stone in the apse and in fishbone pattern (opus spicatum) in the nave.
A rib crossing, influenced by an early gothic style was inserted at the end of the 12th century, in the space around the lantern tower.
