San Filippo di Fragalà is one of the first Basilian-Norman centres and it shows some irregularities in the geometry of the plan, which has a transept with projecting arms. It underwent considerable transformations over time, nevertheless some original characteristics are still legible, like the pilasters of the apse in red brick and other external polychromatic decorations. The arches are not lancet, but rounded, even if some structural elements show references to the new Sicilian-Norman building techniques.
