Rouen (Seine-Maritime) Abbey of St Amand Abbey crosier Second half of the 12th century

A crosier with a hollow cartridge, circular in section, and engraved with the inscription, argue, observa, increpa. (preach, exhort, correct). The knot is the in the form of a flattened sphere. The stem is punctuated by two rings and then rolls into a scroll which culminates in the head of serpent with small ears. The tip, which is in conical form, is decorated with two small rings.
