Ouistreham (Calvados) Eglise St Samson Capital Second third of the 12th century

The moulded almond motifs of this capital carved in limestone are separated by cones. The semicircular sections are occupied by lobes carved obliquely. The use of a stylised leaf in the corner is reminiscent of some of the capitals in the upper gallery of the church of the Trinité church of the Abbaye-aux-Dames in Caen (Calvados).
