Caen (Calvados), church of Holy Peace (Sainte-Paix) Bas-relief 11th century

This sculpted plaque originates from the church of Sainte-Paix (Caen, Calvados). It was carved in limestone during the second half of the 11^th century.
In rather thin relief it shows a man in process of stunning a quadruped with a mallet. The carving technique and graphical representation are fairly rudimentary. The approximation in the plastic representation would suggest an inexperienced sculptor.
