These paired column capitals originate from the church of Saint-Etienne, in the Abbaye-aux-Hommes, in Caen (Calvados). They were carved in limestone during the 12th century.
These capitals are paired, but separated on the upper part by a console, consisting of a flat leaf; the point culminates in a hook, acting as a corner volute.
