Treasure of 34 denarii

11th-12th c.

The Norman monetary system in southern Italy was extremely varied at a time when there was nothing like it in either England or France - the use of numerical symbols for the date of minting and identification of the sovereign, and association of the sons with their fathers' mintages, from Roger II to Tancred.
