Reading Abbey, cloister arcade :
Capital
c. 1125

Limestone. A cubic capital with animal heads at the angles from whose mouths emerge beaded bands marking the borders of the semi-circular zones. In the centre of each face there is another animal head from which further beaded bands emerge. The bands are interwoven with foliage. All four sides of the abacus are carved with leaf motifs in triangular frames. The capital comes from the cloister arcade.
