York, St Mary's Abbey
Life-size figure of Moses.

Magnesian limestone. A life-sized figure of Moses, with a forked beard and horns, holding the tablets of the Law. There is a serpent with bird-like head coiled around his staff. This is one of a group of thirteen life-size statues, others include Apostles and St John the Baptist, which probably come from the façade of the Chapter House.
