Buckle plate

second half of the 12th century

This rectangular buckle plate in cuprous alloy culminates in two lateral excrescences representing equine heads. The openwork decoration obtained by cutting into the sheet is presented in two unequal parts one of which is visibly more worn. Two fixing holes can be observed on the middle bar; two others on the equine heads represent eyes.
