Unknown origin

Springing stone

End of the 11th century or first third of the 12th century

This springing stone from an archivolt of unknown origin was carved in limestone at the end of the 11th or early 12th century.
It is decorated with a simple geometrical motif often found in Normandy: a sequence of four-pointed stars which are carved in a concave circular area, with each branch creating the effect of a rose.
