Unknown origin

Frieze

Second third of the 12th century

This fragment of frieze of unknown origin was carved in limestone during the second third of the 12th century.
This is a motif which repeats horizontally where stylised acanthus leaves alternate with arcatures. It is interesting to note that this architectonic decoration is also found in illuminations in manuscripts, especially in the frame of written pages.
