Padlock Keys
The
key bits are at an angle of about 90° to the stem. These keys
were suspended from the owner's belt by means of a cord through the
terminal at the head.

The upper part of the stem widens towards the head where there is
a looped terminal.

The upper part of the stem has a triangular shape which is at its
narrowest at the head where there is a rounded, pierced terminal.

The upper part of the stem is thickened before tapering to the head
where there is a rounded, pierced terminal. Small notches are cut
into the rear edge of the stem.

Early 12th century
The upper part of the stem is triangular and at the head there is
