Hinge straps
11th century

They both have arms with curved tips at one end. At the other end they have U-shaped eyes which would have swivelled on L-shaped hinge brackets. These hinge straps would have been fitted onto a wooden door. Similar hinges can be seen in 11th - 12th century manuscripts.
