An on-line catalogue of selected artefacts illustrating the archaeological and artistic heritage of Norman England. The artefacts displayed here come principally from excavations in the cities of Winchester and York, but in addition there are important and distinctive artefacts from other national and regional collections.

Capital from Reading Abbey, Berkshire

In the case of Winchester the artefacts come from collections held by the City Museum, many of which derive from excavations either by the Winchester Excavations Committee or by the Museum itself. The artefacts from York come largely from excavations undertaken by the York Archaeological Trust.
