Church of Saint-Ouen

The church of Saint-Ouen in Pont-Audemer is a vast flamboyant gothic edifice built in the 15th century in the place of the 11th - 12th century parish church. Only the three level Romanesque tower survives. The first two levels are visible only in the roof timbers as the elevation of the chapel roofs and choir only allow the last floor of the 12th century tower to protrude. The first bay of the chancel is also from the Romanesque period. The double arches fall back onto Romanesque capitals one of which represents two warriors confronting each other.
